Meet Terri Larkin, Rigid Lifelines Shipping Clerk

Terri Larkin joined the shipping department of SPANCO and Rigid Lifelines™ in 2008. She and brings with her a wealth of experience in working with people—both in the restaurant business and as a representative of a leading juvenile play and safety products company. Ensuring that SPANCO and Rigid Lifelines™ products reach the customer safely and promptly is a challenging job, but one that Terri enjoys.

Terri works hard coordinating the shipment of completed products, dealing with customers and carriers, distributors and end-users to ensure that everything goes smoothly. She personally handles between 15 and 20 shipments daily. Typically this means far more than scheduling trucks and deliveries, though these are certainly important parts of her job. SPANCO components that must be assembled on site at the customer’s facility require adept coordination of the shipment itself, appropriate offloading equipment, and company installers. Timing is critical, and Terri ensures that all the needed equipment and personnel are on site on time.

Government contracts, says Terri, require special attention to detail because they have their own specific rules and regulations, along with rigorous security checks. SPANCO and Rigid Lifelines™ products are also shipped internationally to countries such as Canada and Chile. This requires Terri to coordinate with freight forwarders and to ensure that all proper customs documents are completed properly to avoid fines and penalties. “I make sure the T’s get crossed and the I’s get dotted,” she says.

In her leisure time, Terri enjoys travel. She has been to western Canada and abroad. One of her most dearly remembered trips was to Ireland, a beautiful place she hopes to visit again.
